Gary Stage tweets “I am REALLY struggling with how we make progress when criticism isn’t tolerated. Dissent = defect to many educators. “

This is the perfect response to the meetings today. Not open and honest discussion but rather accusation of not being a “player” or “open minded”

Isn’t our job to “have teacher’s backs”–to provide them with a tool with which to experiment that we have worked most of the technical problems out of. If we want them to find out what they can do with it instructionally–then we have to have worked out the technical.

….at least that’s how I feel lately. Too many things to do, only a few of them actually worthwhile, and no time to do anything well. The net result is that nothing of quality gets done–but maybe this is what happens in education. The numbers also keep whirling in my head; 86 is a nice number; but so is 297.
